About ARX

Security in depth, from the perimeter fence to the spacecraft.

ARX Security LLC builds layered protection for organizations in regulated, high-consequence environments. We integrate physical security, industrial security, and cybersecurity into a single defense-in-depth program, held to the standard of Department of Defense space and missile mission systems.

Matthew Ellerd

Founder & Principal · CISSP, PSP

Matthew founded ARX Security LLC after nearly two decades in security, more than a decade of it in Department of Defense cybersecurity. His assessment and inspection work has taken him to military installations, National Guard units, and cleared contractor facilities in 45 states, from the Pentagon to space, missile warning, and missile defense mission systems.

He has supported numerous DoD Authorizing Officials from both sides of the authorization process. Working directly for the government, he has served as a Security Control Assessor representative, subject-matter expert, and Command Cyber Readiness Inspector, leading independent validation of classified spaces, data centers, and mission networks. Supporting programs, he has carried dozens of RMF packages through eMASS to authorization, served as product owner for vulnerability scanning and compliance tooling, managed CUI programs, and secured cloud test environments in AWS GovCloud. He also brings hands-on experience in space systems security: threat-informed RMF for space and ground segments using the SPARTA space threat framework. ARX brings that perspective to the programs and contractors it advises: a clear view of what assessors and Authorizing Officials will look for, before they look.

His career began in physical security and force protection: running guard operations at a National Guard aviation training installation, evaluating access control, intrusion detection, and anti-terrorism measures at a major missile production facility, and designing a physical security vulnerability assessment program for a defense manufacturer’s U.S. sites. As a Facility Security Officer and Insider Threat Program Manager, he maintained facility and personnel clearances, DD 254 compliance, and NISP self-inspections. He carried that discipline into cyber and space, where the same principle holds: layered controls, proven by evidence, with no single point of failure. That is why ARX treats the fence line, the facility clearance, the network boundary, and the space segment as one risk picture.
